Capper Foundation Receives Avril Lavigne Grant
TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - A popular singer will help some local children with disabilities truly rock.
Topeka's Easter Seals Capper Foundation learned Friday it's one of the first four grant recipients from the newly created Avril Lavigne Rockstar Club. It's a collaboration with the national Easter Seals organization to support recreational programs for children with disabilities.
Capper will use its grant for an art therapy camp. The first are planned for this fall. They'll take place for three hours on a Saturday and be staffed by Emporia State Univerity art therapy students and a licensed art therapist. Children will explore their individual creative skills and develop social skills.
“Some children with disabilities require round-the-clock supervision; this camp will provide a fun morning of learning and creating for these young Rock Stars, it will also provide a brief respite for their parents as well," Easter Seals Capper Foundation CEO Jim Leiker said. "We are excited to be one of four national affiliates selected to partner with Avril Lavigne, her foundation and Easter Seals – it speaks highly of our organization, Topeka, and the northeast Kansas community. Avril Lavigne, a young, talented artist, actively demonstrates her passion about sharing a message of inclusion - that kids and young people with disabilities want to laugh, have fun with their friends, and just fit in – like all of us!”

The first perfume, Black Star, was introduced in 2009, followed by the second one, Forbidden Rose, a year later. Wild Rose keeps up with the theme of its predecessor and is made as a refreshing, floral - fruity perfume for daily wear.

Avril Lavigne Wants To Release “More Fun” Pop Album Soon
Avril Lavigne’s #1 fan The Prophet stumbled upon some news that will surely make the MuchMusic Video Awards performer’s loyal followers “smile” — she’s been quietly readying her fifth LP behind the scenes, and it’s only been three months since Goodbye Lullaby was released. Of course, the latter album failed to garner much in the way of sales or smash singles (aside from modest hit “What The Hell”). Read what Av had to say about her upcoming record below!
Lavigne conducted a short Skype interview with her fansite Avril Lavigne Bandaids, and the topic turned to her next LP. “I already have 8 songs!” she announced. The Prophet points out that Avril previously recorded material with current hit-maker Alex Da Kid and other pop-leaning producers for Goodbye Lullaby, which obviously didn’t make the cut for the record. Whether or not these are the songs she’s referring to here in this interview remains unclear.
“I would like to release the 5th album really quick,” Lavigne says. “This record [Goobye Lullaby] was more mellow, and the next one will be pop and more fun again. I already have a song that I know is going to be a single, I just need to re-record it!”
She would be smart to do a quick turnaround and get new songs out there in the wake of her latest album’s lackluster performance. (See Rihanna, post-Rated R, and Britney Spears, post-Blackout.) Grown-Up Avril to Show Jakarta Her Mature Side
When Canadian singer Avril Lavigne broke into the mainstream music scene with the release of her debut album, “Let Go,” in 2002, she was quickly labeled by many as the “Anti-Britney.”
Sporting skate-punk outfits — preferably tank tops and neckties — and belting out songs that were closer to rock than bubble-gum pop, Lavigne seemed to be the opposite of the glitzy and glamorous teen divas like Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera, who were dominating MTV at the time.
Almost 10 years later, Lavigne, who is set to perform live in Jakarta at Balai Kartini on Wednesday, has grown from a rebellious teenager into a multi-talented entertainer who is not only a successful musician, but has also branched out into film and fashion design. Most importantly, she has managed to maintain her originality — the trait that earned her millions of fans worldwide.
“My fans are hard-core,” Lavigne said on her Web site. “They are very dedicated and really supportive — the kind of fans who stick around. People have come up and started crying, saying, ‘You have no idea what your music has done for me.’ That’s all I need to hear. If I can give even one person strength through my music, that’s pretty frickin’ special.”
Lavigne, who was born in 1984 in Napanee, a small town in Ontario, Canada, sang as a member of the local church choir when she was growing up. She fell in love with music and started to perform at local festivals and fairs.
In 1999, Lavigne won a contest that allowed her to perform on stage with fellow Canadian singer Shania Twain. The collaboration did not go unnoticed. Soon, music labels began knocking on her door and Lavigne eventually signed with Arista Records.
“Let Go,” which was nominated for eight Grammy awards, featured the hit singles “Complicated,” “Sk8er Boi” and “I’m With You.” The album quickly established Lavigne as the scene’s new wild child. She defied trends by not using sexy video clips or suggestive lyrics to gain success. She also gained a reputation for being headstrong and somewhat stubborn, refusing to wear too much makeup or fashionable clothes during photo shoots, instead opting for old, comfortable T-shirts and skater shoes.
“I rejected some gorgeous publicity shots because they just didn’t look like me,” Lavigne said in an MTV interview. “I won’t wear skanky clothes that show my booty, my belly or my boobs. I have a great body.”
When she started work on her sophomore album, Lavigne decided not to rely on professional song writing teams, choosing instead to collaborate with musicians of her own choosing, including Chantal Kreviazuk and Ben Moody of Evanescence.
The results of those collaborations, “Under My Skin,” was released in 2004 and debuted at number one on the Billboard album charts. Most music critics gave the album favorable reviews. Rolling Stone magazine applauded her vocals, writing that “blankness is what makes her best songs so irresistible. Whether it’s a fit of faux punk or a maudlin ballad, she sings it all absolutely straight.”
Lavigne used the album’s success to start pursuing other interests in addition to music. She appeared in several movies, including “Fast Food Nation” (2006) and “The Flock” (2007). She also lent her voice to one of the characters in the animated movie “Over the Hedge” (2006). She also launched Abbey Dawn, a clothing line focusing on back-to-school outfits, in 2008. But Lavigne has made clear that she will always be faithful to her first love, music.
Her third album, “The Best Damn Thing,” was released in 2007, while her latest effort, “Goodbye Lullaby,” followed this past March.
Her Jakarta gig is part of what she’s calling the Black Star Tour, which will also bring her to seven other cities in Asia in support of the new album.
“I pushed myself and didn’t hold back,” Lavigne said about her latest release. “I allowed myself to be vulnerable. I think it’s during the real moments that people can relate the most. Those who have heard the album have had very strong emotional reactions to the songs, so I realized that when something is so real, it will probably touch somebody. The beauty of music is that it’s open to interpretation.”
“Goodbye Lullaby” may be Lavigne’s most melancholy album yet. Many of the songs seem to reflect on her failed marriage with Deryck Whibley, lead singer and guitarist of Sum 41. The couple married in 2006 but split up after only three years.
The wild teenager from Napanee seems to be gone. Nowadays, Lavigne cites surfing and yoga as her favorite pastimes and she can even be seen wearing feminine outfits on occasion. She also launched the Avril Lavigne Foundation in September. It’s a charity organization that support young people suffering from serious illnesses and disabilities.
But even though Lavigne seems more mature and responsible, she told E! Online that she still looks back on her beginnings with a smile on her face.
“I don’t really regret anything. You know, the ties and the wifebeaters and all. It had its time and place. And now I’m all grown up, and I’ve moved on.”

Lavigne Rock on Shanghai
North American pop punk star Avril Lavigne brought the house down during a passionate performance in Shanghai on Monday night as part of her Black Star tour.
As Li Zhen reports, Avril left her fans eager for more.
Li Zhen said, "It's Avril's third time to come to Shanghai. The concert should have started at 8 o'clock. Now 50 minutes has past and she is not on the stage yet. All her fans are waiting for her anxiously."
When Avril appears, screams filled the Shanghai Grand Stage. Nearly one hour of waiting hasn't dented the enthusiasm of the crowd one bit. The Canadian pop punk princess went on to do what she does best, wowing them with her spirited melodies.
Avril broke onto the music scene with her debut album Let Go in 2002 and went on to release 4 albums in 10 years.
In the 75 minutes show, Avril ran through some of the biggest hits in her first 3 album including Complicated、I’m With You、My Happy Ending.
As well as old favorites, the Shanghai concert was dedicated to her latest album, Goodbye Lullaby, released last month. In this new album, Avril's style takes a more delicate and soulful turn.

Avril Lavigne Postpones Japan Dates
Singer/ songwriter Avril Lavigne has postponed her sold out Japanese tour dates scheduled for May 2011 out of respect for the many families that are still grieving or searching for their loved ones following the March 2011 natural disaster and the continued uncertainty of the situation at the Fukushima nuclear plant, further earthquakes and ongoing aftershocks.
Lavigne plans to return with The Black Star Tour and dates will be announced as they are re-scheduled.
Avril is continuing to work on projects to provide support to children and their families in Japan and has joined in the relief efforts by making available the single, "Keep Holding On," on Amazon.com with 100% of the net proceeds going to the American Red Cross Japan Earthquake and Pacific Tsunami Relief Fund.
Lavigne is also working on a t-shirt design inspired by her love for Japan, with 100% of the proceeds going to The Avril Lavigne Foundation to support Mercy Corps' "Comfort for Kids" program, in partnership with local partner Peace Winds. Comfort for Kids trains caregivers how to help children through the trauma of disaster. The goal of the program is to bring help and hope to the children and youth of Japan who have been affected by this disaster. “I want the people of Japan to know that they have been in my thoughts since the devastating disasters. Japan and my fans there have been so important to me and so supportive throughout my career. Avril's Crazy Fan
Jason Selvig is a man in love, and he hopes to gain the public's support in stumping up a $5,000 dowry that will enable the obscure actor to meet and eventually marry his true love – Avril Lavigne.
According to the Toronto Sun, Selvig has enabled a Kickstarter account in order to make his biggest dream come true. "I'm asking for $5,000. That's for me to fly to L.A., put me up, allow me to enter a club that she'll be at, talk to her, and take her out for the time of her life," says Selvig on his Kickstarter promo video.
"Personally I think she's worth a little bit more than $5000," he continues, generously. "But having a donation goal of infinity-million dollars seems a little unobtainable."
Lavigne is currently dating Brody Jenner, Kim Kardashian's half-brother, but when she sees baby-faced Selvig and his proclamation of true love, she may rethink her current situation – or just file a restraining order.
With 28 days left of his campaign, Selvig currently has five backers and a not-so-grand total of $65. Will he meet his goal and get to propose to the love of his life? We kinda want him to.

Avril On Oprah
Four-time Grammy Award winner Pat Benetar visited The Oprah Winfrey Show for Wednesday's episode, which focused on 70s and 80s Rock Goddesses. She performed "Love is a Battlefield," sounding as epic as ever.
The 58-year-old welcomed 26-year-old green-haired Avril Lavigne to join her on stage for the performance, which gave a new angle to the classic "we are young" chorus.
"This is my first time performing with Pat and it's the biggest honor ever," Lavigne gushed. "This is such a moment for me to remember, it's so amazing. Huge."
Benetar addressed the sexism she faced when she first came on the scene in the 70s. "It was a nightmare," she says. "I used to call it the gauntlet, because every day it would be, 'Why don't you just come in here and sit down on my lap and we'll get that record played.' All the time, it was crazy."
She says she's managed to stay with her guitarist husband Neil Giraldo because "he's really nice," even in the wild world of the music industry. "We made a commitment really early on," she says.
"She's always right," Giraldo adds. "There's no woman in the solar system that isn't right."
Lavigne thanks Benetar and her peers for her contribution to the industry. "These women paved the way for artists like me," she says. "They were the first women in rock and roll and had to go head to head with other male bands. They're strong, they're independent, and they're doing what they love."

Avril Lavigne Kembali ke Jakarta
Untuk kedua kalinya,penyanyi rock wanita asal Kanada,Avril Lavigne, akan datang ke Indonesia. Setelah berkunjung pada 2005 lalu, kini Avril datang dalam tur dunianya yang bertajuk The Black Star Tour, yang rencananya dihelat pada 11 Mei mendatang. Kedatangan penyanyi bertubuh mungil ini juga cukup istimewa. Pasalnya,Avril membawa album keempatnya, “Goodbye Lullaby”, yang dirilis pada Maret tahun lalu. Kehadiran Avril diusung oleh promotor Mahaka Entertainment bersama Fruit Tea Sosro.
Rencananya konser Avril digelar pada 11 Mei mendatang di Kartika Expo Center, Balai Kartini, Jakarta. Pada penjualan tiket pertamanya, Kamis (17/3) lalu, pihak Mahaka Entertainment mengaku sudah berhasil menjual tiket lebih dari seribu lembar. “Untuk tiket early bird sudah terjual seribu tiket,” ungkap Hasan Abdulgani, Presiden Direktur Mahaka Entertainment. Kapasitas Kartika Expo Centre yang hanya dapat dipenuhi hingga 6.000 orang, menurut Hasan, membuat pihaknya harus membatasi jumlah penonton hanya sampai 5.000 orang.“Kami hanya menyiapkan 5.000 tiket untuk showAvril agar penonton dapat nyaman menyaksikan pertunjukannya,” ujarnya.
Hasan mengakui, konser Avril tahun ini kurang lebih masih sama dengan penampilannya enam tahun silam. Meski kala itu kedatangan Avril dipegang oleh promotor lain,Hasan meyakinkan bahwa konser kali ini akan tetap menampilkan Avril yang atraktif. “Yang saya tahu,Avril itu selalu tampil gokil di setiap konsernya. Paling tidak jauh beda dengan konser dia dulu.Tetapi, konser Avril sekarang tetap akan menjadi penampilan baru untuk para penggemarnya yang belum sempat menyaksikan penampilan dia dulu. Dia itu selalu atraktif, pasti akan menarik,”yakinnya. Avril yang enam tahun silam datang ke Jakarta memang sempat membuat promotornya agak kerepotan.
Kala itu Avril yangakanditempatkandiHotel Hilton (sekarang Hotel Sultan) tidak ingin diinapkan di hotel tersebut karena dirinya tidak menyukai pewaris Hilton yang juga selebriti,Paris Hilton. Namun, untuk kedatangannya kali ini,Hasan mengatakan belum mendapatkan kesulitan atas permintaan-permintaan yang diajukan Avril dan manajemennya selama mereka tinggal di Jakarta nanti.
“Belum ada permintaan khusus.Kalaupun ada, ya kalau kami bisa memberikannya, ya kami berikan,” sebut Hasan. Despite always wearing heels, Kim Kardashian is usually the smallest person in the room.
But the reality star got a little boost last night as she posed with petite singer Avril Lavigne.
Kim, 30, towered over the five-foot-three star on the red carpet at the release party for her new album Goodbye Lullaby at the SL Lounge in New York.
The two girls are actually the same height however Kim wore a par of sky high black patent platform pumps while Avril, 26, chose comfort over style in a pair of flat black laced boots.
The always-glamorous Kim, who recently released a track of her own, chose to pair her pumps with black leather trousers and a casual black sweater.
Avril meanwhile glammed up her black boots with a sparkly pink sequinned boob tube and a black satin and lace skirt.
The Skater Boy singer was celebrating the release of her fourth studio album which came out yesterday.
Avril and Kim have become closer friends since the singer began dating Kim's step-brother Brody Jenner.
Along with Kim's new boyfriend, New Jersey Nets basketball player Kris Humphries, the four of them attended the party together.

She is set to release her forth studio album, Goodbye Lullaby, on March 8.
The first release from the LP, What The Hell, made it to No.13 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the U.S. In the UK it only just managed to scrape into the top 30.
Avril is currently on a promotional blitz in Europe where she is spreading word of her new record.

KOMPAS.com - Teleskop luar angkasa Kepler telah membuat penemuan menakjubkan. Lewat konferensi pers yang digelar NASA Rabu (2/2/2011) siang waktu Washington atau Kamis (3/2/11) dini hari WIB, hal utama yang diumumkan adalah bahwa Kepler telah menemukan lebih dari 1200 planet dengan 54 diantaranya potensial mendukung kehidupan.
Namun, di luar isu utama tentang penemuan planet yang bisa dihuni itu, Kepler menyimpan temuan lain yang tak kalah menakjubkan. Teleskop luar angkasa yang baru beroperasi tahun 2009 ini menemukan sebuah tata surya baru beranggotakan 6 buah planet. Seluruh planet mengorbit satu bintang induk yang dinamai Kepler 11.
Tata surya baru itu berjarak 2000 tahun cahaya dari bumi. Tata surya ini unik sebab merupakan tata surya pertama yang memiliki jumlah planet transit lebih dari 3. Dalam konferensi pers yang digelar, NASA mengatakan, "Ini adalah grup terbesar planet transit mengorbit satu bintang induk yang pernah ditemukan di luar tata surya kita."
Planet transit secara sederhana bisa dikatakan sebagai planet yang sedang melewati muka bintang atau planet lain sehingga tampak seperti singgah di bintang tersebut. Proses transit yang terjadi mirip proses gerhana. Bedanya, dalam proses transit, benda yang lebih kecil berada di depan benda yang lebih besar sehingga benda kecil itu akan tampak seperti titik di benda besar. Sementara dalam gerhana, benda yang lebih besar melintas di muka benda yang lebih kecil sehingga menutupi. Besar kecil benda relatif dari sudut pandang pengamat. Dalam tata surya kita, tak jarang ditemui Merkurius transit di muka matahari atau planet lain.
Temperatur seluruh planet lebih panas dari Venus, sekitar 400 hingga 1400 derajat Fahrenheit. Para astronom mengungkapkan, seluruh planet yang mengorbit Kepler 11 memiliki ukuran lebih besar dari bumi. Rentang ukurannya sekitar 2 hingga 4,5 kali massa bumi. Planet yang terbesar diperkirakan memiliki ukuran setara dengan Uranus atau Neptunus. Keseluruhannya ditemukan dengan cara melihat peredupan cahaya bintang induk saat planet melintasi wilayah antara bintang dan teleskop.
Keunikan lain tata surya baru ini adalah arsitekturnya. Anggota tata surya Kepler 11 terdiri atas planet-planet tersusun kompak, memadati area di dekat bintang induk. Sebanyak 5 planet seolah mengumpul saling berdekatan sementara 1 lainnya tampak "terpental" karena sedikit terpisah. Planet terdekat adalah Kepler 11-b yang jarak dengan bintang induknya 10 kali lebih dekat dari jarak Bumi-Matahari. Sementara planet terjauh adalah Kepler 11-g yang jarak dengan bintang induknya 1/2 jarak Bumi-Matahari.
Sejauh ini, belum diketahui adanya tata surya dengan arsitektur sedemikian unik. Sebanyak 5 planet yang seolah mengumpul adalah Kepler 11-b, Kepler 11-c, Kepler 11-d, Kepler 11-d dan Kepler 11-e. Sementara, planet yang sedikit terpental adalah Kepler 11-g. Seluruhnya merupakan planet yang terdiri atas campuran batuan, gas dan mungkin air.
Planet Kepler 11-d, Kepler 11-e dan Kepler 11-f mempunyai jumlah gas ringan yang signifikan, menandakan bahwa ketiganya baru terbentuk dalam jangka waktu beberapa juta tahun terakhir. Seluruh planet memiliki waktu revolusi antara 10-47 hari.
Dengan penemuan tata surya baru ini, Kepler semakin memantapkan posisinya sebagai teleskop luar angkasa unggulan masa kini. Prediksi Geoff Marcy, astronom dari University of California di Berkeley, pada tahun 2020 Kepler akan menemukan setidaknya 10.000 planet. Sementara pada tahun 2030, jumlahnya temuannya bisa bertambah 20.000 lagi. Hingga konferensi NASA kemarin, Kepler telah menemukan 1235 planet.

Lavigne on MTv
Avril Lavigne is back, and she's asking "What the Hell" on the lead single off her March 8 release, Goodbye Lullaby. In the video, which premiered on Sunday, she's pursued around town by a guy whose affections she doesn't seem to value quite as much as her own freedom to do what she pleases.
The clip also has another dimension to it: It was shot in 3-D. When MTV News caught up with Lavigne to talk about the song, she was excited about the high-tech project.
"The music video's in 3-D, and my favorite part of the video is the rock-out scene at the end where I jump onstage and I'm with my band," she said. "When we shot it and I got to watch it back in 3-D with the glasses and actually you can see the crowd's hands, and it felt like you were live in a crowd, so it was kind of cool."
The song and the album are Lavigne's return to the music spotlight. In the years since she released The Best Damn Thing in 2007, the 26-year-old had a high-profile divorce from Sum-41's Deryck Whibley, battled her record label and found love again with former "Hills" star Brody Jenner. The album, she explains, reflects all that growing up.
"[It's] about saying goodbye to something sweet and familiar and taking a step forward and opening a new chapter in your life," she explained. "This album overall is kind of bittersweet. It's full of sad and happy emotions. The message overall is about moving forward and coming out of that and finding inner strength. The record's a little more raw. It's a more emotional record, and you can really feel that. I went for those raw, vulnerable moments, but having 'What the Hell' be the first single is more like my older stuff. It's a good way to bridge it."

Lavigne's Video Behind The Scenes
Avril Lavigne will soon premiered the video for her new single, “What The Hell,” but until it’s ready for viewing — in 2D and in 3D!!!! — the punk/pop princess invites fans to check out some behind the scenes footage from the set.
Avril gets into all kinds of crazy shenanigans in the video. She’s crowd-surfing, stealing and crashing a taxi cab, and weasels her way into a game of street b-ball with a few hotties. Luckily, Avril’s mom was on set to make sure things didn’t get too insane. Mama Lavinge also makes a cameo in the video. How sweet!
The restraints of a relationship is driving Avril Lavigne crazy and she’ll go to great measures to get out for a second and get a little wild in the video for her new single, What The Hell.
In the clip, Avril locks her slightly overbearing boy toy in the closet, steals a taxicab and does an outfit switcheroo all in an attempt to dodge him while he chases her the entire time. Avril rocks out at a badass dive show before ultimately giving in and leaving with her beau.

Congratulations, Avril Lavigne: You're the first famous person to have a fake, shakily sourced story about your death spread far and wide on the Internet in 2011.
The 26-year-old singer is alive and nowhere near the reported site of her death in British Columbia; reports earlier in the week had her in Hawaii with boyfriend Brody Jenner, and she performed her new song "What the Hell" on the L.A. portion of ABC's "New Year's Rockin' Eve" special Friday night.
As has been the case with the last few death hoaxes, the source of the fake story is Global Associated News, the official-sounding "news" front of a prank site called Fake A Wish. It lets people plug a celeb's name into a generator that creates a story about their death usually in some sort of weird accident.
Lavigne's fake death, for example, supposedly happened while she was snowboarding at the Whistler ski resort in British Columbia. Similar fake snowboarding deaths have befallen Adam Sandler, Owen Wilson and Charlie Sheen in the past couple of weeks.

Rocking Avril
Avril Lavigne is poising herself for a comeback. Not only will the pop-punk princess debut her brand-new single, “What the Hell,” on “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve With Ryan Seacrest 2011,” but she’s also treating fans to a free download of the tune on New Year’s Day.
In order to get the freebie, fans will need to head to the Avril’s official Facebook page and “like” the starlet on January 1. As of now, the singer/songwriter has uploaded a 21-second video titled “Knock! Knock!” to the social media site to tease the premiere. The clip begins with the song’s flashing title before a cameraman walks up to Lavigne’s trailer and knocks on the door. The clip ends with the 26-year-old starlet opening the door and proclaiming, “What the hell?”
Earlier this month, the Canadian songstress described the lead single off Goodbye Lullaby, which hits stores March 8, as “an unabashed embrace of fun and freedom.” However, Lavigne has stressed in numerous interviews that the rest of the LP will have a raw essence to it. Among other tunes featured on the new album are “Smile,” which she described on her website as a rocker in which she “expresses her gratitude for special people in her life,” the ballad “Wish You Were Here” and the song she told Entertainment Weekly was the album’s most personal track, “Goodbye.”[MTV]
